  • 13-14 September 2010, IMISCOE 7th Annual Conference. New Migration in Industrial Cities and Regions of Europe. The IMISCOE Research Network is happy to announce the Seventh Annual IMISCOE Conference and its first as an independent network. The event is open to everyone, whether member of IMISCOE or not. The conference will take place in Liege, Belgium on 13-14 September 2010 and is hosted by IMISCOE partner CEDEM - Centre d'Etudes de l'Ethnicité et des Migrations at the University of Liège.   • 5-6 July 2010, QMSS2 Seminar on ‘Measuring Integration and Discrimination’ , This seminar is organized jointly by Patrick Simon of the French National Institute for Demographic Studies in Paris and Han Entzinger of Erasmus University Rotterdam as part of the European Science Foundation’s programme to support research networks in quantitative social sciences (QMSS2). Like earlier seminars in this series, this seminar is small-scale and attendance is upon invitation only. A maximum of twelve papers will be accepted, preferably written by young scholars. More...

  • 13 November 2010, Disciplining Global Movements. Migration Management and its Discontents, international workshop to be held at IMIS (Osnabrück, Germany) in November 2010. ‘Migration management’ has become a catch word to refer to a wide range of new initiatives pertaining to migration and mobility, but very little is known on what ‘migration management’ is actually about.
