CALL FOR PROPOSALS - IMISCOE RESEARCH CLUSTERS

The IMISCOE Research Network organizes much of its collaborative work of researchers in Research Clusters and Standing Committees. The call for new initiatives is intended to mobilize colleagues in order to explore possibilities of enhancing new research (by developing research proposals), joint publications or other activities around specific topics as well as the establishment of Standing Committees for more long-term research clusters. Deadline December 1st. »


CALL FOR NOMINIATIONS - IMISCOE MARIA IOANNIS BAGANHA DISSERTATION
AWARD 2015
 

IMISCOE has opened nominations for its 2015 Maria Ioannis Baganha Dissertation Award.

Eligibility and requirements:  
The 2015 competition is open to all PhD recipients whose dissertations were defended within the 24-month period before the deadline for submission of 19 December 2014. This timeframe is determined by the date of the official defence. All academic disciplines are equally eligible. In the case of co-authored dissertations it must be clear from the text of the dissertation itself what the contribution of the applicant to the dissertation has been. »


NEW PUBLICATION AGREEMENT WITH SPRINGER

 

IMISCOE has closed an agreement with Springer for publishing the IMISCOE Book Series and the journal Comparative Migration Studies. This agreement allows IMISCOE to take a new step in developing its publication series, which had been first established in 2004. »


FOUR NEW INSTITUTES JOIN THE IMISCOE NETWORK

 

IMISCOE is very happy to welcome four new member institutes. MPI-MMG, COMPAS, Middlesex University and HIVA/KU-Leuven will join the network as of immediately This brings the total number of IMISCOE member institutes at a record number of 35.

IMISCOE PHD NETWORK

 

IMISCOE PhD Network wants to become Europe's largest PhD network of scholars in the area of migration and integration. The network focuses on the organization of events, PhD training, grants & awards and (online) discussion. The network wants to connect with the aims and objectives of IMISCOE linking scholars working in the same field in an international context.

PHD CONFERENCE IN ROTTERDAM 12-16 JANUARY, 2015

The Research group Citizenship, Migration and the City (CIMIC) of the Erasmus University Rotterdam extended the deadline for applications for the second edition of the IMISCOE 3CI PhD Conference ‘Changing Europe - Changing Migration’: Europe in the World on the Move. The new deadline is: October 17, 2014. »


IMISCOE - EUI CONFERENCE ON MOBILITY IN CRISIS, 
FLORENCE - ITALY

EUI and IMISCOE are jointly organizing an event on "Mobility in Crisis: Is Europe becoming more mobile during the economic crisis or is European mobility in crisis?". This event is to take place on 29-30 January 2015 at the  European University Institute in Florence. »


WINNERS FIRST RINUS PENNINX BEST PAPER AWARD


The first Rinus Penninx Best Paper Award has been awarded to Marie-Laurence Flahaux and Hein de Haas for their paper “Migration from, to and within Africa: the role of development and states.” »


WINNER OF 2014 MARIA BAGANHA DISSERTATION AWARD: DR. RUBEN ANDERSSON


The winner of the 2014 IMISCOE - Maria Ioannis Baganha Dissertation Award is Dr. Ruben Andersson. His dissertation entitled “Clandestine Migration and the Business of Bordering Europe”, was defended at The London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London in March 2013. »
