WISMA Seminar 4 - Literature search, review and management (Zoom)

Submit the paper and then what? - uncovering the refereeing and editorial systems from the publisher’s perspective

Information

Date: 15 April, 2021

Time: 2.00-3.30 pm (UK Time)

This is the fourth in our 2021 'writing academic paper' seminar series organised as part of Writing International Student Migration in Africa (WISMA) project, funded by the British Academy.

In this session, you will get the opportunity to learn about the processes once you submit your paper to a journal. The session is a rare opportunity to get the ‘behind the scenes’ look at the editorial steps of sending papers for review and the decision-making process, and a look at the system that journal editors use to manage the whole process.

Dr Phil Emmerson will be the key speaker for the seminar. Dr Phil Emmerson is the Managing Editor of the journals associated with the Royal Geographical Society (with Institute of British Geographers). In addition to the providing the behind the scenes look, Phil will also reflect on what steps RGS journals are currently taking to diversify the knowledge they choose to produce and distribute.

The session is open to all.  The session will have several opportunities for Q&A. The seminar will be held via Zoom, and livestreamed via Youtube. Please note that the seminar will recorded.
