Short text BooksIMISCOE and Spinger are very proud to announce the launch of a new Series of Short Readers on Key issues in European Migration Studies! Written by both senior experts and emerging young scholars, this series covers key theoretical issues, uses case study examples from across Europe, and outlines main research and policy questions for the future, in plain language. These readers will offer the best companion to undergraduate and graduate students in migration, ethnicity, citizenship but also European Union studies and wider sociology, politics, geography, social policy, demography and history courses.

Q: Who can apply for the master programmes that you are providing? Which students do you aim to reach with EuMIGS? A: The master program is open for students who are enrolled in one of the partner programs. This means that from next year on, students can apply to any of the master programmes, already envisioning spending the second year of their master in another country and programme.
Q: What are the benefits of the double-degree programme that EuMIGS is proposing?
A: For the students it offers obtaining two master degrees from two different universities in one go, but especially the chance of getting to know intensively the migration reality of another country and theexpertise of the scholars at another university. For the participating master programmes it is an element of internationalisation and broadening the horizon. The programme also foresees teacher mobility within the Erasmus-scheme, so that also students not going abroad will profit from other perspectives being offered in the framework of EuMIGS. Q: What does EuMIGS mean for IMISCOE? A: EuMIGS opens IMISCOE towards the younger students and thus the upcoming generation of future migration scholars. Moreover, since master theses are produced in a very much shorter lapse of time than dissertations or let alone regular major research projects, master students can react on much more shorter notice to developments, like e.g. the "refugee crisis" in 2015-16. IMISCOE could use that as a tool for gaining insights more rapidly and spontaneously. Looking into the topics of master thesis research also allows a better glimpse of what topics are upcoming among young migration scholars. The idea is that EuMIGS will be closely connected to IMISCOE and that it is, in principle, open also for other institutes or master programmes in the future to become part of it |

News from the IMISCOE PhD NetworkAfter the successful ‘Intergenerational Feedback’ (IF) sessions at the IMISCOE Conference in Rotterdam, the PhD Network plans to repeat and expand the IF sessions at next year’s conference in Barcelona. The aim of the sessions is to provide PhDs with the possibility to receive academic feedback on their research projects from experienced scholars in the field. Please read more here if you could be interested in participating, either as a PhD or as a senior scholar.
