NEWS FROM IMISCOE'S 12TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE (25-27 JUNE, 2015 - GENEVA)

IMISCOE – Rinus Penninx Best Paper Award awarded to James Tariq Laurence

The researcher from the University of Manchester received the award for his paper “When Numbers Count: Community Ethnic Composition, Prejudice, and the Moderating Role of Inter-Ethnic Segregation for the Contact and Threat Hypotheses.”

SHORT REPORTS from the IMISCOE annual conference 2015

As IMISCOE we place great importance on the publicity of our research activities. Therefore we asked all chairs of the annual conference to send us brief summaries of the sessions they were chairing.

PhD Network

Successful first edition PhD Workshop at the Imiscoe annual conference 2015
 

After an inspiring key note speech by Zana Vathi (Edge Hill University) reflecting on PhD and academic life, the participants split up in small groups to follow masterclass sessions and participate in the paper sessions on e.g. Migrant Political Participation and Mixed Methodologies hosted by Maarten Vink and Costica Dumbrava (Maastricht University), Janine Dahinden (Université de Neuchâtel), Russell King (University of Sussex) and Blanca Garcés Mascareñas (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).  The day was concluded with a plenary session on the future plans for the IMISCOE PhD network and next year’s conference and PhD Workshop in Prague. The program was well received and offered a good opportunity to actively engage with peers and experts in the network.

Videos from the annual conference 2015
 

The 12th IMISCOE Annual Conference took place on June 25-27, 2015 in Geneva. More than 400 researchers and experts met to discuss the interrelation between rights, democracy and migration in contemporary Europe. IMISCOE is now happy to present two videos of conference panels for all those who could not attend or who want to review some of the happenings in Geneva:

IMISCOE is happy to announce that its library finally also contains the recently published book by Scholten et al. (eds.) called Integrating Immigrants in Europe: Research-Policy Dialogues.

COMPARATIVE MIGRATION STUDIES (CMS)

 

Expected soon to be online and open access at www.comparativemigrationstudies.com a special issue edited by Philipp Schnell, Rosita Fibbi, Maurice Crul & Martha Montero-Sieburth entitled: "Family involvement and educational success of the children of immigrants in Europe. Comparative perspectives". This issue contains the following articles:

CALL FOR SPECIAL ISSUES CMS

CMS also provides an outlet for coherent special issues. Every proposal will be reviewed by the Editorial Board. If approved, all individual articles from the special issue will be subjected to double-blind peer review independently. The next ‘call for special issue proposals’ is due on September 30th, 2015.
 

 

GUIDELINES FOR SPECIAL ISSUES CMS

CMS accepts proposals for special issues twice a year. The next deadlines for submitting
