Call for Nominations IMISCOE Maria Ioannis Baganha Dissertation Award 2017IMISCOE has opened nominations for its 2017 Maria Ioannis Baganha Dissertation Award. The Network has awarded this prize annually since 2010 (overview of winners) to stimulate and recognise excellent PhD research in the field of migration, integration and social cohesion in Europe. The 2017 competition is open to all PhD recipients whose dissertations were defended within the 24-month period before the deadline for submission of 9 January 2017. Applicants are invited to apply on their own behalf, although dissertation supervisors may also nominate candidates.
Survey: Quality of the IMISCOE conference in Prague rated by participantsFor the second time we asked participants at the IMISCOE annual conference to give us feedback on the organization and content of the conference. The average score out of ten for the conference in Prague as a whole was 8.4. We consider this as a very good score.
REMINDER IMISCOE Seed Funding for Research Clusters: Call for Proposals (Deadline: December 1, 2016)Over the past decade IMISCOE has provided seed money to selected research initiatives. It has issued consecutive calls for new research initiatives. The aim of these initiatives is to mobilize colleagues in order to explore possibilities of enhancing new research (by developing research proposals), of joint publications or other activities around specific topics.

Call for new editors for the journal Comparative Migration Studies Prof.dr. Sawitri Saharso and Dr. Peter Scholten - the Editors in Chief of the journal Comparative Migration Studies - welcome applications from colleagues who wish to become a member of the journal's editorial board (call for editors, pdf). Comparative Migration Studies (CMS) is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes comparative research from various disciplines. Applications should be sent to info@comparativemigrationstudies.org no later than December 1st 2016. |

REMINDER Call for Papers: IMISCOE Spring Conference 2017 (Deadline: 4 November, 2016)The IMISCOE Spring Conference will be held at Middlesex University London on 17 February 2017on the Tyranny of Categories in Migration Policy, Research and Data Production. A number of writers have highlighted the ways in which categories form the backbone of policies through which they define the conditions of mobility and the concomitant set of entry, residence, economic and social rights as well orient research and data production.
REMINDER Call for Papers Panels and Workshops Cities are often the main ports of entry for migration and the location where migration-related diversity is manifested most prominently. The 14th annual conference turns attention to the urban dimension of migration and migration-related diversity. The deadline for submitting proposals is Thursday 15 December (24:00 CET). All submissions should be made online via www.imiscoe.org. Applicants will be informed about acceptance of their submission by February 1st.
