Albert Kraler is a senior researcher at Danube University Krems. A political scientist and Africanist by training, Before joining Danube University Krems in September 2018, Albert has been a senior researcher at ICMPD to which he was affiliated since 2001 . In addition, he also held fellowships at the Centre for Migration Research at the University of Sussex (2003-2004) and the Department of Political Science, University of Vienna (2005-2006). His research has focused on migration statistics and statistics policy, irregular migration, regularisation, family migration policies, discrimination and border control. Albert has published widely on various aspects of migration. His publications include Gender, Generations and the Family in International Migration (co-editor with E. Kofman, M.Kohli & C.Schmoll, Amsterdam University Press, 2011), Migration und Entwicklung. Neue Perspektiven [migration and development. New perspectives] (with I.Ataç, M.Fanizadeh & W.Manzenreiter, Promedia 2014), and Politik und Peripherie. Eine politikwissenschaftliche Einführung [Politics and periphery. An introduction to political science] (co-editor with I. Ataç, W. Schaffar & A.Ziai, in German, 2nd and completely revised edition Mandelbaum: 2018). Albert also teaches Political Science and International Development at the University of Vienna as an associate lecturer.
