Carolina completed an MA and a PhD in the sociology department at Goldsmiths, University of London with a thesis was entitled “The Chilean Diaspora of London: Diasporic Social Scenes and the Spatial Politics of Home”. During her PhD she also worked as a research consultant and analyst for the ESRC funded project "Living multiculture: the new geographies of ethnicity and the changing formations of multiculture in England" which was based at the Open University. She has published in the Ethnic and Racial Studies, among other journals. Today she is conducting a postdoctoral research entitled "‘“Community”, space and belonging in multi-ethnic commercial neighbourhoods of Santiago: a multisite and comparative ethnography of Patronato and Meiggs’ (FONDECYT postdoctoral 2015-2018), which deals with processes of diversification and migration, in local urban places, taking place in Latin American cities.
