Rachael has extensive project management and research experience on migration related issues both overseas and in the UK. She holds a Masters in World Trade and International Development from the University of Greenwich and a BA in European Studies with French from Kent University. She is currently 24 months into her PhD scholarship in Migration and Local Governance. for the last 20 months she has been undertaking Participant Observation into how the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation Scheme has changed the management of migration within local authorities in the South East of England.
Outside of academia she spent 4 years managing DfID funded programmes aimed at preventing brain drain within the health system in Somaliland and 7 years working on EU funded transitional mobility projects. More recently Rachael has worked with the Department for Education and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills on behalf of the 157 Group to help safeguard learners from being drawn into extremism.
