17.03.2023

Hi there!

The IMISCOE Migration Podcast is looking to expand its team of interviewers.

Are you actively involved in migration research and would like to contribute to making migration research more accessible? Then consider joining us as an interviewer.

The deadline for applications is April 1st, 2023.

What will be expected of you?

You will be responsible for acquisition and interviews. Your tasks will include:

  • Scouting for interesting potential guests
  • Contacting potential guests
  • Guest relations (incl. receive their photographs, keywords associated with the episode, short bio, making sure they have signed the release form, etc.)
  • Interview preparations (line of questions, setting date)
  • Pre-interview chat to check audio and discuss questions
  • Conducting interviews with guests, on- or offline.
  • Deliver recording to producer

Interviewers are expected to deliver between 2 and 4 recorded interviews per annum that meet the quality criteria to be published online as part of the Migration Podcast series.

As interviewers, you will also be asked to actively part-take in promoting The Migration Podcast to increase its visibility on- and offline. This means proactive communication about the podcast, sharing news of recently published episodes, and spreading the word about the podcast at academic events, to colleagues, and to students who may benefit from its contents.

Last but not least, you will be asked to take part in two online team meetings per year.

Who are we looking for?

Minimum requirements:

  • You should hold a PhD or be involved in a PhD program. PhD candidates, post-docs and junior scholars are especially encouraged to apply. You are an independent researcher with a completed PhD? No problem, we’d love to hear from you.
  • You should be researching/working in the migration space.
  • As we run the podcast in English, you should speak English fluently and clearly. Accents are not a problem, we all have them.

Great to have:

  • Skills in (science) communication, journalism, radio-making or podcasting
  • Interviewing skills
  • Experience engaging and growing audiences using social media
  • Team spirit
  • A pleasant speaking voice

We are looking for reliable people who show commitment to the project.

You should be able to commit to the project for 12 months, starting in May 2023.

Please note, this is voluntary work. No team member is paid for their part in The IMISCOE Migration Podcast. However, being part of the project allows you to build your network and interview scholars that are interesting for your work.
