The 2026 IMISCOE Conference will take place at the Campus Barri Vell of the University of Girona, an academic complex located in the heart of the city’s historic centre. Surrounded by medieval architecture, archaeological heritage, and vibrant cultural life, the campus offers a unique environment where research, history, and contemporary urban life coexist.
The Campus Barri Vell brings together several of the University of Girona’s key faculties and academic spaces, particularly those dedicated to the humanities, education, and social sciences. Its buildings integrate modern facilities within historic structures, creating an inspiring setting for scholarly exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The campus is situated within walking distance of Girona’s most emblematic landmarks, including the Cathedral, the Jewish Quarter, the Arab Baths, and the Onyar River. Its central location also provides easy access to museums, cultural institutions, and the city’s main transport connections.
Most of the Campus Barri Vell will be dedicated to hosting the 23rd IMISCOE Annual Conference, with several key spaces available to participants:
- Faculty of Arts and Tourism where many of the parallel sessions will take place. The building combines historic architecture with modern classrooms and seminar rooms.
- Cloister of the Faculty of Arts and Tourism, an open‑air space where coffee breaks and conference lunches will take place, offering a pleasant setting for informal networking and social interaction.
- Aula Magna Modest Prats, the main auditorium of the University of Girona, which will host plenary sessions and selected side events.
- Faculty of Education and Psychology, offering additional lecture halls and meeting rooms for panels, workshops, and roundtables.
- Courtyard of the Faculty of Education and Psychology, which will host additional coffee breaks in a calm and welcoming outdoor environment.
