The exhibition "Open Arms. A Mission Against the Tide" offers an immersive journey through Open Arms' ten years of humanitarian work in the Mediterranean and other emergency contexts, addressing the phenomenon of migration from a human perspective committed to fundamental rights.
The exhibition traces the organization's origins to 2015 on the island of Lesbos, at the height of the migration crisis, and explains how it was born to respond to the lack of assistance at sea. It also documents the shift of migration routes toward the central Mediterranean—one of the most dangerous in the world—and the consequences of increasingly restrictive migration policies.
Through images, testimonies, and documentary materials, it reviews the maritime rescue missions that have saved more than 73,000 lives, as well as the work of advocacy and defense of the right to life and to asylum.
With a clear educational purpose, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect, fosters empathy, and helps them understand the complexity of migration, all while championing the dignity of every person.
