Call for Nominations- Members of the Jury for the Maria Ioannis Baganha Best Thesis Award

IMISCOE is now seeking candidates for 3 positions as Members of the Jury for the Maria Ioannis Baganha Best Thesis Award.

Since 2010, the Maria Ioannis Baganha Distinguished Dissertation Award stimulates and recognizes excellent PhD research in the field of migration. Maria Ioannis Baganha was a leading migration scholar at the University of Coimbra’s Centre for Social Studies. She was one of the IMISCOE’s founding members and the chair of its Board of Directors until she passed away in June 2009. To commemorate her work in the field of migration studies and her commitment to the network, the IMISCOE Board of Directors has dedicated the IMISCOE dissertation award to her.

About the role

In their role, the members of the jury for the Maria Baganha Award Jury are expected to actively participate in the Jury’s meetings and contribute to the different stages of evaluation of the submissions received for the Award. Most of the work is concentrated between January and June. While most meetings of the Jury will be online, some may take place on-site or be scheduled in a hybrid format (for instance, when the meeting date coincides with an important IMISCOE event, such as the Annual Conference).

In their role, Jury members may also be invited to attend meetings of the IMISCOE Board of Directors, the Executive Board, and other Executive or Standing Committees or to participate in separate meetings with the IMISCOE Network Office.
