Publication date: 07 October 2025

Book Summary

Mexico–US, Serbia–EU Border Lives and Works offers a groundbreaking interdisciplinary exploration of border spaces as navigated by people on the move, host communities, artists, researchers, and activists. By examining the Mexico–US and Serbia–EU borders, this book provides a unique, cross-sector perspective that expands beyond the traditional focus on border security and mobility restrictions. Instead, this edited volume integrates voices and insights from activists, service providers, artists, scientists, and scholars to illuminate the diverse and complex realities of borderlands. This multi-genre, interdisciplinary framework not only sheds light on the lived experiences and works within border spaces but also critically engages with the moral and ethical dilemmas faced by those working and researching in these regions. Written in accessible language, this book fills critical gaps in migration and border research, offering fresh perspectives and practical insights for scholars, practitioners, and the general public alike .

Readership

The book will be of interest to scholars in the growing fields of critical forced displacement and critical border studies, as well as migration studies, international relations, and refugee studies.
