DIVCULT Autumn Webinar 2026

How can researchers collaborate with artists and engage with artistic practices to develop new approaches to migration research? What methodological and theoretical opportunities and challenges emerge from such collaborations?

The IMISCOE Standing Committee on Arts, Culture and Migration (DIVCULT) invites you to the Autumn Webinar 'Doing Migration Research Beyond Academia: Collaborating with Artists and through Art'

Building on discussions initiated at the IMISCOE Annual Conference in Girona, the DIVCULT Autumn Webinar 2026 explores the role of artistic practices in migration research, with particular attention to community-based knowledge co-production, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the dissemination of research beyond academia.

The webinar brings together four presentations addressing different forms of collaboration between researchers, artists, and communities. These contributions explore creative heritage practices, itinerant art-research residencies, documentary photography, and collaborative approaches to cultural heritage and representation. They also explore questions around representation, ownership, and the relationships between researchers, artists, and the communities involved.

Participation is free and open to everyone interested in migration, arts, and interdisciplinary research.
