We are happy to launch an open call for contributions to the DIVCULT Autumn Webinar 2026 titled “, which will take place on 12/11 at 3 pm CET time. It will run as an online session with a chair and 4 presentations, followed by a Q&A. Empirical, theoretical, and methodological contributions are all welcome. Presenters who wish to do so can publish their contributions on this DIVCULT blog page of the IMISCOE website.
Abstract
Contemporary approaches to migration studies, influenced by critical, reflexive stances that have emerged within the field, pay close attention to the relational dynamics that occur between the social actors involved at different stages of the research process. The DIVCULT 2026 Autumn Webinar will analyse the challenges and opportunities of collaborating with artists and through art in research processes. By examining community-based knowledge co-creation and the dissemination of research results beyond academia and through artistic means, the webinar will continue the discussions initiated at IMISCOE Annual Conference in Girona, yet devoting special attention to the art-based research practice. This will entail considering how researchers engage with the studied social dynamics through arts and with artists, and the impact that the knowledge they co-produce has on them. The webinar will also discuss the methodological and theoretical interdisciplinarity that is emerging in migration research targeting artistic and cultural issues, which has been developed in collaboration with stakeholders in the field. The aim of this discussion is also to highlight and share good practices.
