Comparative Migration Studies (CMS) welcomes proposals for the Thematic Call special issue – 2025 with as thematic ‘Regional perspectives on migration’. Special issues can cover perspectives on migration and migration-related diversities from one specifical (global) region, compare various regions, focus on global-south perspectives on south-
south migration.
They are looking for articles that push present understandings of migration, integration, and race and ethnic relations in new conceptual, methodological, and empirical, directions. A special issue should include at least 4 original articles, plus an introduction. Proposals should provide an outline of the special issue, provisional titles and author names of contributors (who should have confirmed their participation), and at least 1 complete paper/draft paper. All articles for CMS should include an abstract of no more than 250 words and observe a word-limit of 9,000 words.
All special issue proposals will be submitted to internal review by the editorial board CMS. If approved by the board, a clear deadline is agreed with the guest editors as for when all articles have to be submitted via the online submission portal of CMS (SNAPP). All individual articles can be submitted on a running basis and will be reviewed (double blind peer review) individually (reviewers will be notified that an article is part of a broader special issue).
Guest editors will be informed on the progress of the review of individual articles. Guest editors are also responsible for the communication of deadlines to the contributors involved. The decision on acceptation of articles will be taken by the editorial board. Guest editors can be asked to suggest external reviewers.
