INTERDISCIPLINARY PERSPECTIVES ON INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION: POLICIES, GENDER, CITIES, IDENTITY, CLIMATE
Contemporary international migration is shaped by an ever-growing number of factors, from the impact of climate change to the increasing differentiation of labour flows, from the globalization of migration governance to the intensification of transnational diasporic networks. Not only have such dimensions created new migratory patterns and experiences but they have also given rise to a greater diversity of migrants in terms of age, gender, social class, provenance, etc.
Coordinated by migration experts from across different departments at Ca’ Foscari University, this conference will engage with current debates in migration studies through 5 thematic panels, the calls for which can be found below.
We invite contributions from any discipline, and in particular those that draw upon interdisciplinary approaches. Each panel will accept 4 contributions.
The main conference languages will be English, but each panel allows additional possibilities.

SUBMISSIONS
Please submit your proposal by Friday 30 June to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., specifying the panel in the subject line of your email.
Your proposal should include: the paper’s title, a 250-word abstract, 3-5 keywords, a short biography (max 100 words) of the author(s), affiliation(s) and contact information. Notification of acceptance will be sent to authors by Friday 14 July.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The conference starts at 9.30am on Tuesday 28 November and ends at 7pm on the following day. The conference will take place in Ca’ Dolfin, in the historical centre of Venice, a 15-minute walk from Santa Lucia railway station.
The fee for the conference is 80€ and includes all conference materials, coffee and lunch breaks, as well as dinner on 28 November.
We have a limited solidarity fund to contribute to the cost of the conference fee and accommodation in Venice for accepted participants who are unwaged or without research funds. Please get in touch with us if you wish to apply for the solidarity fund. Please note that we cannot cover travel expenses.
