Call for Expressions of Interest to join the IMISCOE Standing Committee on Forced Migration and Refugees as coordinator

Deadline 23/2/2025.

The SC FMR, in addition to its chairs, is governed by a number of coordinators. All coordination tasks shall be pursued by two coordinators as to increase diversity of the SC. We are now seeking three additional coordinators to work with the existing coordinators for the roles “membership” (Heidrun Bohnet, Danube University, Austria) (this involves managing the data base, managing the mailing list, arrange certain mailings to our members, and, most importantly, analyse our membership as to identify gaps and coordinate recruitment drives), “events” (Eveliina Lyytinen, Migration Institute, Finland) (conferences, workshops) and “embedding” (Zeynep Yanasmayan, DeZIM, Germany) (enhance cooperation with other IMISCOE standing committees). Candidates must be post docs and have several years of experience in the field, English-language proficiency is a requirement. For the coordinator of "embedding" the candidate already needs to be member of another IMISCOE SC.

Applications shall consist of a single-page PDF file that includes a short bio of the candidate (max 200 words), as well as a short description (max 300 words) of the motivation to join the SC and the candidate’s expertise in this specific area of research. Neither the applicants nor their host institutes need to be members of IMISCO though knowledge of how IMISCOE works will be an advantage.

Coordinators need to be prepared and have the time and resources to actively chair the committee, taking on certain tasks, attend meetings and ideally also IMISCOE annual conferences and generally contributing to our activities.

For data protection matters, please be aware that applications will be read by all nine chairs respectively coordinators of the SC.
