Call for Expressions of Interest for two PhD representatives of the Standing Committee on Forced Migration and Refugees

Deadline 23/2/2025.

The SC FMR calls for expressions of interests to join the committee as PhD representative. This call thus applies only to the PhD students in forced migration and refugee studies.

Being a PhD representative gives you the opportunity to shape the future directions of the SC through taking an active part in board meetings and in coordinating current and future PhD-targeted activities of the SC (to be determined). In addition, you will have a say in the broader IMISCOE PhD community where you will represent our SC in the PhD Network meetings (during annual and spring conferences). This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to be more involved in the IMISCOE network, sees the importance to enhance forced migration and refugee studies and develop the nexus between forced and general migration studies.

Applicants need to be PhD students, are members or are prepared to become members of the SC (this will not incur any fees), ideally, are at some earlier stage of their PhD studies and are proficient in English. Applications shall consist of a single-page PDF file that includes a short bio of the candidate (max 200 words), as well as a short description (max 300 words) of the motivation to join the SC as PhD representative and the candidate’s field of research.

PhD representatives need to be prepared and have the time and resources to actively participate in regular or ad hoc online meetings, take on certain tasks, attend IMISCOE annual conferences (time and funding permitted, off course) and generally engage with and contribute to our activities.

For data protection matters, please be aware that all member of the governing body of the SC, currently nine, will read the applications.
