CfA: SC MIGCITPOL invites applications for PhD Representative

The Standing Committee on Migration, Citizenship, and Political Participation (MIGCITPOL) at IMISCOE invites applications for the position of PhD Representative. This ad-honorem position provides a unique opportunity for emerging scholars to actively contribute to the committee’s activities, foster collaboration, and engage with a dynamic international network of researchers.

MIGCITPOL explores the intersections of Migration, Citizenship, and Political participation, focusing on how migration shapes and is shaped by notions of citizenship, democracy, and governance across various contexts. Role Description

The PhD Representative will support MIGCITPOL’s core activities and serve as a vital link between the committee and the PhD community within IMISCOE. Responsibilities include:

Managing the committee’s social media presence.

Co-organizing online meetings for the MIGCITPOL community (3 to 4 per year).

Representing PhD interests in committee discussions and initiatives.

The selected candidate will hold the position for three years, with the possibility of renewal if deemed appropriate by the committee coordinators.

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications

We encourage applications from PhD candidates whose research aligns with topics intersecting the themes of Migration, Citizenship, and Political Participation.

The following skills are desirable:

Interest in managing social media platforms to promote MIGCITPOL academic activities.

Strong organizational skills for coordinating events.

Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, following IMISCOE guidelines.

 

Application Procedure

Interested candidates are invited to submit:

1. A short motivation letter (maximum 350 words) outlining their interest in the position, their research focus, and relevant skills. We welcome suggestions of specific activities or events to engage with PhD students within MIGCITPOL and other IMISCOE Standing Committees.

2. A two-page CV detailing their academic background, qualifications, and experience.

Selection Criteria

The committee coordinators will review applications in line with IMISCOE’s diversity and inclusion guidelines and announce their decision by the end of February 2025.
