Postdoc Position: Social Network Resources and the Labour Market Inclusion of Disadvantaged Groups

Are you interested in the role of social contacts for inclusion of vulnerable groups? Do you want to contribute to a research project addressing the role of social capital in labour market inclusion of women & migrants in the Netherlands? As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will explore the positive and negative side of social capital and how this affects the inclusion of women and migrants, by analysing newly produced survey data on the Netherlands.

Profile

  • You have a PhD degree in a relevant social science area (e.g. sociology or economics) or are able to provide proof that your PhD thesis manuscript has been accepted by the manuscript committee.
  • You have strong expertise in quantitative research methods, particularly in the analysis of survey data.
  • You have working experience with relevant software for quantitative data analysis (preferably Stata).
  • You have experience with or knowledge of social network analysis.
  • You have experience with interdisciplinary collaboration activities related to the theme of labour market inclusion of vulnerable groups (women and migrants).
  • You have a pipeline of thematically relevant publications in high-impact international journals.
  • Your experience with teaching quantitative methods, economics or economic sociology would be a strong asset.
  • You are proficient in English; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.
  • You can work independently while contributing to collaborative research discussions.
  • You are enthusiastic about engaging with interdisciplinary research networks and presenting your findings at conferences.

Position Overview

  • A temporary employment contract of 36 months.
  • Your salary within salary scale between 10.0 and 10.5 depends on your previous education and number of years of (relevant) work experience. The amounts in the scale are based on a 38-hour working week.
  • You will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end-of-year bonus.

  • You will receive extra days off. With full-time employment, you can choose between 30 or 41 days of annual leave instead of the statutory 20.
