About the webinar
This event is being co-hosted by the Gerontological Society of America's interest group on International Aging and Migration and IMISCOE's Standing Committee on Families, Welfare, Care and the Life Course (SC FamWeLC). In this online workshop, we will describe the IPUMS data harmonization processes, which makes data easy to use for comparative research across time and space. While the workshop will place an emphasis on IPUMS data suitable for the study of migration and immigration in international contexts, the core information about these data and the demonstrations will be suitable for a broad range of research applications.
Representatives from IPUMS will demonstrate the online data access system to create customized datasets for specific research questions, highlighting features and data for migration research. They will also briefly demonstrate how to use the online tabulator for quick analyses of the data. This will be of special interest to qualitative researchers who wish to use this data to provide wider context for their investigations.
