IMISCOE Announces the Rinus Penninx Best Paper Award

IMISCOE proudly announces the first awarding of the Rinus Penninx Best Paper Award. This award, in honour of the founding father of IMISCOE, will be given to the best paper submitted to and presented at the annual IMISCOE conference. An anonymous review committee will decide on the allocation of the award. Besides the honour of receiving the award, the prize winner(s) will also receive €750,-- and the opportunity to publish the paper in the journal Comparative Migration Studies.

The award will be granted based on the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the body of literature on migration, integration and social cohesion studies
  • Clear research question and soundness of the research design
  • Innovative contribution in terms of theory, methods or case studies.
  • Paper should have been uploaded on the IMISCOE online submission portal before the deadline of August 1st.

Papers can be nominated (only) by the chairs of the panels during the Annual IMISCOE Conference. For every panel, one paper can be nominated. Nominations have to be made by August 10th the latest, by sending a mail with the full paper to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. For co-authored papers, the prize will be divided over the number of co-authors.

The award ceremony will take place during the final conference plenary, on Friday August 29th, 17:45-19:00.
