'Behind them, a homeland in ruins'- new Mercy Corps report

The new Mercy Corps Report, ‘Behind Them, a Homeland in Ruins’, focuses on the young, predominantly male, refugees who are arriving on Europe’s shores every day. This new research aims to shine a light on why refugees are moving, what they are looking for, and what is needed to make their resettlement a positive reality.

Amy FairBairn from Mercy Corps stated: "We found it prudent to publish this Report as this time as there is a real danger that Europe’s response to the refugee crisis will be driven by ignorance or fear, leading communities and politicians to focus on keeping refugees out, or marginalising the once they’re in". Accordingly, in the report Mercy Corps makes key recommendations to world leaders about how to move forward in managing the refugee crisis in Europe.
