I have studied Sociology at the University of Crete and Social Anthropology and History at the University of the Aegean, with a main interest in gender studies. I have worked as a social scientist by providing social support, care and advocacy to refugees in detention centres and refugee camps at Lesvos Island and in other regions in Greece. I have also worked in a shelter for refugee and migrant women surviving violence, torture and trafficking. I have also been actively involved to human rights movements and solidarity networks supporting refugees in Lesvos. I am interested in issues of forced migration, racism, social harm, violence, borders and human rights. My PhD thesis explores the everyday violence and harm in the lives of refugees trapped in Lesvos Island.
